This guy, he's too good for words. I've always known who he was, and he's always known who I was since like grade school (because we have the same friends, it's a small town, etc.) but we've never really KNOWN each other. Now, from the start I always heard he was a great guy, his great looks always caught my eye, but I never really thought about us being together. I always just wanted to be his friend, because well, he was a cool guy and everyone liked him. But whenever I was around him, he didn't talk much. Occasionally we'd exchange looks, but even my freshmen year when we actually had class together it was nothing more than a quick look and maybe a word or two if I was lucky. I was always convince he didn't like me, that he was too cool for me. Even though i didn't like him like that, I was just disappointed that he didn't act like he wanted to be my friend, even though I heard he was like the nicest guy ever and he was friends with everyone.
 
Of course, my freshmen year I was also really focused on my boyfriend that lasted the whole 9 months of that school year (which is probably the main reason why I wasn't attracted to this boy from the start of my high school years). I'm really not too proud of my last relationship, I put up with a lot of things that I shouldn't have. i felt stronger because I could put up with all his shit, but really, I would've been stronger if I had just let him go from the start when things started to get rough. The beginning of summer of 2011 he ended things with me over text for another girl (that did not last.). 9 months down the drain just like that. At first I was just too shocked, I was just getting ready to leave for track practice so I knew I shouldn't cry. I held it in. I didn't say I word most of that track practice, until my friend noticed i was kinda down and asked who she needed to beat up. I told her all about it. She told me right then that I am not allowed to stay home all day for weeks and just cry about it, instead I need to hang out with all my friends who I hadn't hung out with in MONTHS (because I was so attached to my ex) and I had to focus on having a good time without him. Really, this breakup was more of a weight lifted off my shoulders more than anything.
 
The whole first 2 weeks after my breakup were great. Not a care in the world. I didn't cry once. I was a whole new person and it felt soooo good. I was more confident that's for sure. I was always hanging out with friends, meeting new people, flirting with boys, enjoying the presence of my family & God, and not caring about my ex. I wouldn't say I was ready to love again but I was CERTAINLY over him. I felt soooo strong because I wasn't letting him consume my thoughts. But one day, I just let out a good cry. I thought about the fact that he really hurt me, that I wasted my whole first year of high school on him, that things were never going to be the same. But after that, I just new things were going to start looking up from that point on.
 
One day I hung out with 2 of my friends from track and weight lifting class for the first time. They were a lot different from my other friends (they didn't have as many friends, they weren't as cool with being themselves, but they were really easy for me to just talk and vent to). I started hanging out with them a lot whenever I wasn't with my other friends. Around that time is when I started feeling comfortable looking at other guys for a little summer romance. I was ready. I knew that these 2 girls had kinda known this guy, and his friends, and they had hung out with them before. I thought, "Wow, this really cute guy who I've been wanting to get to know for years has hung out with my 2 good friends. That means I should definitely be able to get the chance to hang out with him too." Now this guy and his friends were "the cool guys" they all thought they were all that and shit, but not this one guy. He was different. And I got really excited when my 2 friends said we had a movie night planned with them in a few weeks. YESSSS! This is my chance (:
 
One day when I was talking about this guy with them I mentioned how cute I thought he was but I didn't really know him. But all the sudden my friend Julia was all like, "He's mine." I was really confused. Even though I was friends with Julia.. She was kinda on the weird side. I felt bad, but it was true, he was WAY out of her league. She mentioned that she really liked him (she texted him allll the time, but never really had the courage to flirt with him or anything). I remember at that moment my stomach kinda dropped, I didn't just want to go for him, after all he was my friends' crush, but part of me didn't want that to stop me from getting to know him.
 
When the night came around that my 2 friends, him, and his friend, and I all hung out, I didn't know it but things were about to change. It was Julia, Alexa, Josh, Nick, and I. Although my 2 friends were being a little awkward, I was surprised how well I was with Josh and his friend for hanging out with them for the first time. I noticed that Nick was flirting with me a little more than Josh was, but I didn't really think much of it. After they left, I knew one of them was bound to text me (after all, that's how it has been with every guy that I hung out with that summer). I was incredibly happy when I saw a text from Josh. We talked the rest of that night and then he texted me again the next day. We literally talked nonstop that whole day. Seriously, there were smiley faces in every text. He was also being really nice and NOT perverted. I liked it. I went and hung out with other friends that night and they were so surprised that I had been texting him for 8 hours straight. I told them I didn't like them, I wasn't going to get my hopes up or get too obsessed from that start because I had NO idea where things were going....
 
We continued talking at least a few days a week (he was a very busy guy though, he had a lot of friends so I was lucky whenever he took the time to text me). The more we talked, the more I pictured myself liking him, but I wasn't sure how he felt. I was scared he would never feel the same way, so I controlled my feelings. Even though he would text me first all the time and always say nice things, there was never anything too flirty. Then, we started running into each other more. Whenever I saw him in a group of people, he would look me in the eyes with a gorgeous smile on his face and say "Hi Layne." And whenever I had to leave, he would look me right in the eyes and gave me this caring look and would say "Bye Layne." And he would always text me afterwards saying he was glad he got to see/hang out with me. I didn't know why, but something felt special about the way he did that. We started talking about hanging out more often, and we did. Again, he was always busy so I was lucky whenever I got to hang out with him. But as the days kept going on, we would flirt more and more and I would actually get this feeling. I think I was starting to like him.
 
Something was different about Josh. I always smiled whenever I thought about him. Whenever I saw him, I got butterflies. I would feel my face get red and my smile get big whenever I talked to him. I couldn't explain the feeling I got around him. He was one of the sweetest guys I'd ever met. But I didn't know his story. I didn't know what he thought about me. He's ALWAYS around other girls. How do I know he's not like this with other girls? Just because he told me I was cute doesn't mean I was going to go gaga for him right away. I just kept things to myself. Whenever someone asked me about him I sounded unsure because I didn't want him to find out I liked him if he didn't feel the same way. But whenever someone would talk about me and him together, they would say: "OHHH MYYY GOSHHH, you two would be soooo cute together!" or "awwww, I love josh. You should seriously go for him, that would be so cute.". I liked hearing those things wayyyy better than "oh thats weird, you two shouldn't be together" (which is what I always got with my last bf). Things like that inspired me.
 
Before I knew it, we started hugging and holding hands a lot. We started to talk about our feelings for each other. I loved the way I felt when I was close to him. I loved how i could talk to him to his face, and not over text. I couldn't believe it. The guy that could have any girl he wanted chose me. It was the end of summer when we finally told each other how we felt about each other. Better late than never I guess for a summer romance.♥
 
Unfortunately, my friendship with Julia got tough. She started acting awkward around me and her true colors started to show, so I had a hard time hanging out with her. Alexa and I still have little coffee talks every once in a while, but I realized they aren't meant to be my BFF's. Just friends-ish. But it was all worth it. Everything in my life felt right. I had a great guy and friends and family, AND I was finally close with God again. September 24, 2011 will always be the most memorable day in my life.♥
 
I'm INCREDIBLY lucky. I have a boyfriend who my friends & family love. He would never do anything to hurt me. I can have deep conversations with him and have fun with him no matter what we do. I can actually hang out with my friends again (that includes guys) and feel comfortable with mine and Josh's relationship because there are NO trust issues, NO jealousy, and NO abuse. He only calls me beautiful, never hot or sexy. I love the kisses he gives me on my forehead. He's truly amazing. I could go on for days talking about him. And he admitted that allllll those times when he was quiet & shy around me was because he didn't want to look like an idiot, he wanted to make a good impression on me. D'awwwh (:
 
But my advice to you is, don't settle for "good enough" and don't go searching for "the best". Let the best come to YOU. And DON'T force it. Focus on making YOURSELF happy before relying on other people to make you happy. Life has a lot of great things in store for you.♥

Last night ended up being a fun one. Friday night football game & we won! Then, drove around with some friends, played tag in the park at midnight, got in a car chase, had a few cop scares, got to spend the whole night with my boy.. Definitely something to remember♥
